Down State New York City Kicks in Florida Cash

I just finished reading an article about the campaign fund-raising efforts that have helped to fill the coffers of Hillary Clinton and Rudy Giuliani.  The campaign funds are coming from what I refer to as downstate New York city, many other people refer to this as South Florida. In the first quarter of this year South Florida contributed $4 million to the campaigns of Giuliani and Clinton.

that would constitute about a 20% of Giuliani’s funds and maybe five to 8% of Clinton’s funds.  Regardless it’s a big number to come from a single state and especially from one section of the state.  We are talking about old money from Palm Beach County in Florida.  This is also a section of Florida that was duped in the 2000 presidential elections with the butterfly ballots.  I know because I live there then.  it was the first and last election that I voted in in Florida.  (I lived in Florida for about 2 1/2 years.)

It hints at the potential for Wall Street money from New York and old money from New York and downstate New York city to be funneled to do New Yorkers, even if one is a recent adoptee.  That raises the question where is the new money going?

Confirming a New Attorney General

I’m curious as to what all happened if the current Attorney General has to resign. Time is running out on the Bush administration and it would likely take several months to identify a new Attorney General and push them through confirmation process. It’s likely that Bush would replace the Attorney General with a stop gap type of person who assumed the reins at Justice.

In essence because the Attorney General will probably lose his job because he was trying to fire congressionally appointed people with stopgap people appointed by the president and now he’s about to lose his job to temporarily be replaced with stop gap people also. it makes me wonder if there ought to be some sort of confirmation gifts given to the people that actually make it to and through the confirmation process. They have these types of gifts for various religions maybe they should give some sort of booby prize to the un-savvy politician that gets their job the old-fashioned way through a congressional confirmation instead of the Government 2.0 way of temporarily appoint someone like many multinational companies temporarily appoint workers so they don’t have to pay them full benefits.

Blogging Army and Politics

Earlier this week I established a new advertising company that is designed to empower bloggers to strengthen their voice on the Internet.  the new company has a very Internet sounding name and it’s called the LinkyLoveArmy.

Please, don’t let the cutsie name fool you.   the name refers to a concept that bloggers utilize to strengthen their webpages through search engine optimization techniques including the sharing and exchanging of links.  Unfortunately in politics money buys you votes, on the Internet links are the equivalent of votes and through the monster that is Google, they are used essentially to determine what information is important in which information is not important.

The next time you do a Google search consider that a robot is determining what’s important to you.  No search engine is designed in principle to help you find the information that you’re looking for.  Google is a search engine that is extremely popular today because it replaced other search engines that were previously at the top of the pile with a new technology at the time that was more effective at finding the right things on the Internet most of the time.

What does this Have to do with Politics?

In politics it’s important to get your message out.   All politicians complain that they have a difficult time getting the attention they want when they want it.

They also complain that they get attention that they do not want when they don’t want.  In real life and the news media and editor or a reporter typically makes the call on that decision of what gets covered and what doesn’t.
On the Internet a robot makes the call, and the robot is only as good as the programmer the designed it, maintains it, updates it and tells it what collection of material to consider.

Google by default is a company that controls the information that you see.  I do not mean to and further Google is up to anything evil or controlling, however they are a company, a corporation run by humans and they do have a subjective view, perspective and interest in the world around them including politics.  It’s impossible for them to not be subjective no matter how they program their robots.

Now in the blogosphere, there are thousands of bloggers out there that have a voice.  Some of those bloggers have a larger and louder voice than others and this is typically based on their ability to share their knowledge or information or ideas with an audience.  They cannot get that audience on the Internet without either word-of-mouth or search engine help.  My new advertising company is in part designed to help bloggers expand their reach and their voice across the Internet.  It’s also designed to help bloggers work together to channel their voice utilizing their individual power focused on a strategic collective goal.
Were not talking socialism on the Internet, were talking about bloggers retaining their individuality and their unique perspectives doing what they would normally do, writing about what they would normally write about, but working together in such a way that each blogger helps the other blogger and together their combined voices are louder and have a farther reach than anyone blogger would have by themselves.

I will be sharing more information on how this advertising company and how bloggers in general working with our company or not working with our company will be able to expand their voice further and how’s this might be able to be utilized to help level the playing field in politics today.

What does $10 million buy in a Presidential Campaign?

Not too much as Mitt Romney is finding out.  He raised about $21 million dollars in the first quarter of this year and has apparently spent $10 million.

He now as about $11 million in cash, which is the same amount that Rudy Giuliani is reporting.  Giuliani however has much more name recognition than Romney, so it might be argued that $10 million bought Romney enough name recognition to go head to head with Giuliani for 3 months.

In New Hampshire the former Massachussets Governor Romney probably has about equal name recognition with Giuliani, but going into primaries in the South, Midwest and West, Romney will need to pay to play and keep up.

John McCain should have provided his details to the Federal Election Commission about 75 minutes ago.  It will be very interesting to see where he stands on available cash, and on fund raising and fund spending rates.  He was previously disappointed with his own numbers.
