I’ve been working to connect the dots a bit on the new John McCain scandal. Below is a map of my attempt. It is a little limited as I tried to create something that would be viewable an functional on the internet.
If you take a look at this map, you will notice a couple different patterns
John McCain has a long history of marital infidelity
John McCain’s career rests on his attempt to clean up his own image after receiving donations and influence during the Keating 5 Savings and Loan scandal
These two items are not necessarily mutually exclusive.
Now, all that said, his infidelity is not really the issue here. If the infidelity opened the door for lobbyists to gain influence over John McCain that would be different. Sending a sexual proxy to turn someone has been a tactic employed by spies, governments an powerful individuals for thousands of years. If a relationship occurred, it could explain a great deal of John McCain’s flip flops over the last 9 years.
- If Bush knew about it, it could explain why John McCain rolled over in 2000
- It could explain why John McCain recently supported FISA an torture
For such a devious ploy to work, the provocateur, allegedly Vicki Iseman, would have to remain silent in order for puppet masters to keep control over McCain. This would then explain the mutual agreement by both parties that nothing happened.
On the flip side, it is just as possible that nothing happened and this is just the latest of witch trials to sweep through politics. It points to a severe weakness of US politicians.
They worry about sex and fidelity.
If US politicians did not worry about public perception relating to sex an infidelity, this tool could not be used against them when they take a step outside of moral conventions. When they do, their moral exposure opens the door for much more serious political exploitation. It happened with Hoover, JFK, Bill Clinton, Gary Hart, and many more politicians.
The only way for the US government to evolve away from this problem is to lead the country towards more sophisticated views about sex and fidelity. Politicians like all Americans are still human an subject to human mistakes. When they attempt to portray themselves as more than human, they open the door for our country to be attacked.
In this there could be the potential for John McCain, Mr Straight Talking Straight Shooting Maverick, to step up and do something that President Clinton was not man enough to do more than 10 years ago. Stand up and tell the country an the world, I had an affair and that has nothing to do with politics. If he did not have an affair or if there was actual influence peddled, the truth will probably come out and very few things could save his political career.
