No More Incumbents was founded by Brett H. Bumeter, LLM. Brett served in the United States Army as an Intelligence analyst for several years before turning to the private sector. He believes that citizenship is a privledge and a right. That privledge and that right must be maintained and guarded. Privledges and rights are only concepts. They are not capable of taking care of themselves nor people.
Brett like many other people across the United States and around the globe began to see the obvious problems with the current political system. Incumbents have a huge advantage that assures them of a re-election victory almost 97% of the time.
Even the most noble leaders in our country’s capital and our state and local governments are not able to resist the influence of power and special insterest when they are elected many times in a row. They become corrupt. They are snared in to traps of back scratching, favoritism and pork barrel spending that has no useful purpose for any other people. They build up kingdoms filled with lobbyists writing the laws they should be protecting and writing themselves.
The longer a politician stays in office, the more power they gain and the lest effective they become at serving the people.
Power Corrupts and Abosulte power can be found at the end of a sliding scale of re-elections that corrupts absolutely.
Path Forward
So the path forward for everyday citizens of the country and the world is simple.
- Do not under any circumstances vote for an Incumbent running for re-election.
From that founding principle NoMoreIncumbents.org will grow and work to achieve the goal of reducing the ability of incumbents to get re-elected.
