No More Incumbents Blog

It has been taboo for people to question Chelsea Clinton as she travels the country stumping for her mother. When someone asks her a tough question she hides behind the concept that it is a family affair, as if she were not part of the family business of politics. Or the campaign will jump up and say, she’s ‘our daughter’ you shouldn’t ask that.Well the reality is that Chelsea is pushing 30. She was born in 1980 and has been wearing big girl pants for quite a while. She graduated from Stanford (undergrad) and Oxford (Master’s) and probably owns Patek watches more substantial and important than this latest effort.

So with parents that cleared over $50 million in the last few years, a father who was the former leader of the free world, and a mother who is a Senator from New York, she should have a pretty good shot at making something of herself.

Instead today, I get an email from Chelsea talking about an important decision. Is she going to run for office herself? Is she resigning from the campaign to go make her own way in the world? Is she joining the military to go fight in afghanistan where the real terrorists are according to her mother?

No, she’s running a popularity poll and contest to find her mother’s campaign a new T-shirt with a good slogan.

Are you kidding me!???!

If you hear her speak, she sounds like she probably has as much intelligence as her father and mother. But even if she was cursed with only half the intelligence, you’d think that at age 28 she could be trusted with a little more responsibility.

Finding the right t-shirt for a campaign that might be dead next week?

In all seriousness, Chelsea, in all serious Clinton family, WTF?

We recently launched a contest to design a campaign t-shirt, and I couldn’t believe the incredible response. We got thousands of great entries. They were creative, inspirational, funny, and beautiful. It was amazing to see the devotion to my mom’s campaign come through in each t-shirt. Thank you to everyone who submitted a design!

It wasn’t easy to narrow it down, but we’ve chosen five we think are particularly great, and now we need your help in making our final decision. Please vote for your favorite design — the winning shirt will go on sale in our online campaign store.

Italia Federici plead guilty last week to Obstructing Congress and to Tax Evasion.  The government contends that Federici, the head of the Council of Republicans for Environmental Advocacy (CREA) functioned as the go between for Jack Abramoff, serving 6 years in prison and Ex-Deputy Interior Steven Griles, who later became Federici’s boyfriend too.

Griles plead guilty to obstructing Congress in March and will be sentenced in 11 days on June 26.  He is the highest ranking Bush official convicted so far. 

This scandal has also delivered former Republican Representative Bob Ney of Ohio to prison for 30 months for accepting bribes.

Several other Bush officials and Republican congressional aids are quickly being added to the convicted list as this scandal proceeds forward.

I’m curious as to what all happened if the current Attorney General has to resign. Time is running out on the Bush administration and it would likely take several months to identify a new Attorney General and push them through confirmation process. It’s likely that Bush would replace the Attorney General with a stop gap type of person who assumed the reins at Justice.

In essence because the Attorney General will probably lose his job because he was trying to fire congressionally appointed people with stopgap people appointed by the president and now he’s about to lose his job to temporarily be replaced with stop gap people also. it makes me wonder if there ought to be some sort of confirmation gifts given to the people that actually make it to and through the confirmation process. They have these types of gifts for various religions maybe they should give some sort of booby prize to the un-savvy politician that gets their job the old-fashioned way through a congressional confirmation instead of the Government 2.0 way of temporarily appoint someone like many multinational companies temporarily appoint workers so they don’t have to pay them full benefits.
