Mr Ickes - You Bet Your Ass Michigan’s Hijacked

So, I am paraphrasing Harold Ickes who represented Hillary Clinton at the DNC Insiders meeting to pick the next Presidential Nominee today. His response made it clear that Hillary Clinton takes issue with the DNC taking her delegates away from her and giving them to Barack Obama, along with a 55 delegate bonus in a state where Barack Obama had his name on the ballot and then took it off just before voters went to the polls to vote.

The thing about this speech, it seems to signal that Hillary Clinton does not plan to drop out of the party and run as an independent at least, but the summer is still young and the media seems to be starting in on the serious efforts to do a hatchet job on Barack Obama’s past.
CNN was running some very eye opening investigative reports on Obama this evening, which might get some muted play in bars around the country this weekend as bar tenders channel flip between games the tv mounted on the walls, but it doesn’t seem to get any air time during more high profile programming times. But even that is probably going to have less negative impact on Obama than his latest Pastor problem and his subsequent resignation from Trinity Church.

It would almost seem that the media pumped Barack Obama up like a giant, only to then see how big of a crash they might make if they fell him.

Full Disclosure through Super Delegates

Here’s an illustrative little political cartoon that greeted me this morning when I opened up my stupid newspaper(the same paper that can’t seem to spell things on their front page and makes the most ridiculous mistakes with a staff of writers and editors to back them up).I thought the image in general summed up the situation rather nicely. It strikes me that the Democratic Party that should be positioned to wrestle power away from Republicans after a two term Presidential night mare of the Bush Administration, but instead seems to be bound and determined to show all Americans just how screwed up Democrats and specifically the Democrat Party and Democrat Party leaders really are.

In a way the extra screwy antics of Howard Dean (Can you imagine how bad of a President he would have been? He can’t even put on a Democratic primary. Democrats are lucky he didn’t get elected. He probably would have made George W look good, because he would have shaved off the worst half of the 2 terms and obviously Dean couldn’t even manage a hole in the head.)

This Democratic Primary has proven to be completely un-democratic. In fact the Democrats have made the term ‘Democratic Primary’ into a complete oxymoron. This should be a wake up call for voters.

Sure if you vote a Democrat in 2008, you are taking power away from Republicans that couldn’t spell the word ‘manage’ when they were trying to manage a hole in their head. At first glance kicking Republicans out of power, seems like a good idea. But consider just how screwed up Democrats are proving themselves to be before they even get power.

-Taking the Vote Away from Florida and Michigan Voters (I’m not talking about following the party rules. The rules were setup one way, so that the people (you know those ‘We the people types’ could not express their views and pick the candidate that they wanted. That is not very democratic when you cook the rules and fail to compromise with millions of people in 2 of the most important voting blocks in the country.)

-Campaign Contributions Down the Drain (Consider all of those millions of dollars that have been donated to the Democratic party over the last year, only to get flushed down the drain in the primary itself as opposed to being used to compete against Republicans.)

-Don’t forget about the 2006 Democratic Takeover Fiasco (You may remember that Democrats were given power in 2006 to get us out of Iraq and put the Checks and Balances Back in government against George W. Not sure if you have noticed lately but we are still in Iraq and the Checks and Balances and the Constitution itself have been decimated even more since 2006.)

Instead of sending Republicans packing in 2008, Democrats through their policy of full implementation and disclosure of all their own issues might send Republicans un-packing their Rimowa designer luggage to stay permanently in the White House.

Democratic Party - Who Needs Florida and Michigan?

The Democratic Party has officially and publicly lost their mind.  They have decided that Florida and Michigan voters are not worth the time or trouble.  Both states and the Democratic Party have decided to ignore voters and they will now opt for a backroom deal to determine which Democratic candidate is really good for the people of these states.

Florida Cheap SOB’s and Party Big Wigs

Florida initially thought they could run a new Democratic Primary for $1.5 million.  Then the price doubled to $3m, only to jump to $5 million and then $15 million and ultimately they said it would cost $50 million and $50 million was too much money to bring Democracy to Florida.   The State of Florida, the Democratic Party and the Candidates are all apparently too cheap.  They might be willing to drop millions of dollars on ads, and hotels and even some directbuy furniture from a Boca furniture store but empowering the people of Florida to choose their candidate for one of the most important Presidential Elections in 100 year is too expensive.

Apparently Florida is too much of a quagmire and it would be easier to keep funding a push for Democracy in cheaper regions like Iraq as opposed to Florida.

Michigan Stuck in a Catch 22 with Obama Camp and Neither Can make a Decision

In Michigan its not about the money, its about making Barack Obama happy.  The State government and the Democratic Party were unable to come to terms with the Obama campaign.

You know the ones that are supposed to be able to bring people together and make change.  Apparently the Obama style of change is to not show up on time to get their name on the ballot and then refuse to negotiate with the State so that all Michigan voters will lose their voice in the Democratic Primary.  That’s definitely a change, maybe they will solve National voter turnout problems by just throwing out the concept of elections all together in 2012.  Who needs elections when you can just skip them and do a backroom deal?

The State of Michigan would not pass a resolution to do a re-vote (mostly after they learned that Florida could get away without having an election too.  Before that Michigan was on the fast track to have a new primary.) because lawmakers wanted the King of Michigan to bless their legislation before they voted on it and signed it into law.  You may wonder who the King of Michigan is, well its Barack Obama.  Michigan wanted Barack Obama to tell them that their legislation was acceptable before they would put it up for a vote and pass it into law.

The last time I checked, the State of Michigan, its Congress, Governor and Constitution make absolutely no mention of a 4th leg of government known as the King of Michigan in the form of Barack Obama but that did not stop the state from getting stuck in a stalemate with this all powerful new branch of Michigan government.

Biting Democrats in the Rear in November 2008

Apparently Democrats have forgotten that Florida and Michigan too are very important states.  All states are important, but you would think that the Democrats would not want to thumb their nose at the Democratic voters of Florida that delivered the popular vote to Democrats in 2000.  If Democracy is just too hard to accomplish for the Democratic party, maybe they are not the right party to steward the US Constitution for another 4 years.

Fred Thompson Cuts and Runs from Election

Well after South Carolina it probably comes as no surprise that Fred Thompson has now officially pulled out of the Republican Presidential race.  Thompson worked as a spoiler against Mike Huckabee in South Carolina in favor of John McCain.

Thompson is a friend of McCain’s and several pundits had speculated that Thompson might continue just to continue spoiling things for Mike Huckabee.  Thompson appears to have opted to not be McCain’s tool and has pulled out of the race.

Thompson’s campaign started with high expectations and promptly belly flopped into a pool of retirement home jello.  He will probably retire back to obscurity as a politician and possibly continue dabbling in acting, which apparently is his true calling.

Mike Huckabee Going Broke?

In other news, Mike Huckabee is hurting for money and cutting back on expenses like a true fiscally responsible Republican.  Reports show him booting the press out of campaign busses and asking for car trip donations from staffers.  Mike Huckabee doesn’t stand much of a chance in Florida, but is still hoping for some evangelical success in other Super Tuesday states.  This ex-preacher is probably going to need a miracle at this point.
