Did Bush Just Sabotage Barack Obama’s Campaign?

Just when you think President Bush has completely gone off the deep end and become completely irrelevant he does something that makes you sit up and pay attention.  Today, all Democratic eyes were on Washington looking for the photo opportunity and quotes to use against John McCain in the upcoming Presidential election.  Most Democrats were anticipating the event with glee as they wanted to be able to associate John McCain with George Bush so that they could then destroy McCain in the election.

I think everyone was completely surprised by just how much damage George W Bush would actually do.  Even more surprising is that the damage did not stick to John McCain, but instead to Barack Obama.

George W Bush launched into a speech comparing Barack Obama to someone most Americans think is one of the worst Presidents that has led the office in decades if not ever.

That’s right!  George W Bush compared Barack Obama to himself.

He stated something along the lines of well, you know when I ran in 1999 and 2000, I ran as an ‘agent of change’ too, just like Barack Obama.  He then made several comparisons to himself and Obama.  On a day when many Democrats were looking to pay attention to GW, they were treated to a rude awakening that the President does have some political cunning left in him.  Possibly just enough to sink Barack Obama’s campaign and elevate the Republican’s foe of choice, Hillary Clinton.

It has been very obvious to me for some time that Barack Obama like Bush in the nineties is a Presidential candidate with little substance, less experience, and no measures of obvious accomplishment.  Like George W Bush, Barack Obama does appear to have an original thought in his head.  Even more like George W Bush, Barack Obama knows how to speak and appeal to his own respective base, just like Bush knew how to speak and appeal to his base in the late nineties.

Many of us, myself included have possibly been misled to believe that George W Bush is incompetent and feckless by accident.  However, he provided evidence today that he does in fact have some political savvy left in him.  When everyone was looking for the opportunity to tie John McCain to the President, the President seized the opportunity to pull Barack Obama in to himself and enable the country to see the Obama qualities in Bush.

That vision of what Barack Obama might become, a George W Bush in Democratic clothing could hurt Obama’s momentum even more than Hillary Clinton’s triumph in Ohio and Texas.  The President’s ‘Aw Shucks’ routine melted away today just enough for him to serve Obama up on a platter to the electorate and to Democrats.  He couldn’t have done more harm if he had found video footage of Barack Obama driving around in a gas guzzling muscle car, spitting on poor people, and making backroom deals with foreign embassies to trade American jobs away and then providing a Mustang clubs certificate, DNA from the saliva and audio transcripts from the deal.

As the night starts to wrap up John McCain seems to be sealing the deal and ending any potential for Mitt Romney to be a future factor, but Mike Huckabee has become a distinct factor that could be necessary for John McCain to rally the the christian right.

Minnesota Goes for Barack Obama

Barack Obama continues to show that he has the ability to pick up states and delegates in states with predominantly white populations.

It would appear at this point that race is not an issue when it involves whites voting for Barack Obama, but that parable does not seem to hold true at all when it involves Hispanics voting for Obama or for that matter African Americans voting for Hillary Clinton.
