These days there are more and more websites that allow people to go in and provide their consumer perspective or social opinion covering just about every topic under the sun. They accept votes from anybody and everybody. They then use this information to show various different rankings. It helps us separate lemonade from the pulp and identify what’s really important or useful. (examples Digg, Blink List, Del.icio.us) We need information to compare and contrast information whether we are comparing politicians, prospective employers, colleges, or a Diet Comparison.

These same sites are subject to abuse and can be manipulated. The same things happen in polls and many non-tech tools.

Regardless these sites do typically offer more god than harm if for not other reason than they foster more conversation. One of the goals of no more incumbents.org is to establish a means of allowing our readers to start to vote up or down or with a positive or negative on various different candidates for office. Initially, we will probably do it on a candidate by candidate perspective. Ultimately we would like to add several different components.

Including social rankings covering characteristics such as:

  • public persona
  • Attractiveness
  • Views on their Stance on various planks(abortion, equal rights, same sex marriages, taxes, foreign policy)
  • Voting History
  • Past Accomplishments

Our goal is to build more interactivity into our blogs and our website to gather and share information together. This is part of the reason why we are gathering so many writers into our site. No one person is diverse enough to provide enough perspective. Two heads are smarter than one and fifty heads are smarter than 2.
